Drugs for Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a condition that involves damage to the optic nerve, often caused by elevated intraocular pressure. Inadequate drainage of aqueous humor within the anterior chamber of the eye places stress on the optic nerve tissue. The resulting nerve damage leads to peripheral vision loss (tunnel vision) and, eventually, total blindness. Drug therapy has shown to be effective in delaying progressive vision loss by decreasing the production or improving the drainage of aqueous humor.

Beta-adrenoceptor blocking drugs
Beta blockers, also known as beta-adrenoceptor blocking agents, are pharmaceutical agents that act as competitive antagonists of the β-adrenoceptors, which are activated by the endogenous catecholamines epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline), of the sympathetic nervous system.

Diuretics
Diuretics are particularly useful in treating the water and salt retention caused by heart failure.
Common side effects like muscle cramps arise from the loss of too much sodium, potassium or magnesium. Prescribers should be aware of the risk of diuretic-induced hypokalaemia.
There are three main types of diuretic, each of which works by affecting a different part of the kidneys:
Loop diuretics- prescribed for fluid retention (oedema), particularly in the lungs. These drugs are very fast acting, but of short duration and induce dramatic water loss.

Migraine
Migraine is a complex condition, but it is characterised as a moderate to severe, pulsating headache that is typically unilateral, and is often accompanied by nausea and disturbed vision (aura). Migraines can last from two hours to several days. Associated symptoms can include nausea and vomiting, as well as sensitivities to light, sound or smell.
Medical intervention is indicated when the migraines become frequent and/or are severe.
